What are the advantages of a VPS over shared hosting?
A VPS gives you guaranteed resources, so what other websites on the same hardware are doing doesn’t affect yours. You also get proper control over how it’s configured, rather than working within someone else’s shared setup.
If I outgrow my current VPS package, how easy is it to upgrade?
Easily. Ask us and we’ll move you up to a bigger package. It just needs a short reboot.
Is shell access provided?
Yes. You can set up different levels of SSH access to any of your website spaces from the control panel.
What customisations can be made to my VPS?
You can control key PHP performance settings, including memory_limit and post_max_size, and choose which Apache modules to load. If you’re not sure what’s possible or how to set something up, get in touch, and we’ll talk it through.
Is VPS hosting managed or unmanaged?
Managed. We set up, update and look after your VPS as standard. If you have the technical knowledge and want to make changes yourself, you can, with full root and SSH access.
Do I get root access?
Yes. You have full root access alongside the shell access mentioned above, so you’re never locked out of your own server.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. VPS hosting is billed monthly with no long-term contract, so you can scale up, scale down, or move on without being tied in.
What happens if my VPS goes down?
Our infrastructure has automatic failover built in, so most issues are handled before they become downtime. If something does need attention, our UK-based support team is on hand 24/7/365.
Can you migrate my existing VPS from another provider?
Yes. We’ll handle the move and make sure everything’s configured correctly in its new home, the same as we do for our other hosting migrations.
